Studio on Fire...Again

I try not to use the word "obsessed" lightly, but I might venture to apply it to how I feel about Studio on Fire's work. Recently on their blog they posted this amazing peacock invite (which I discovered through Black*Eiffel's recent post). Their own words:

Wedding invitations need not be all typographic. This is a nice change in pace from most invites that tend to focus more on type than image. And we love letterpress printing lots of color, so this artwork does the trick. It was designed by Sheraton Green over at CSA Design. The peacock image comes from the CSA Image collection - an easy $40 bucks to license for wedding invites.

Though I'm totally impressed with what Studio on Fire did with it, I was interested to note that the peacock image came from CSA Image Collection (search "peacock" and it will come up). But SOF modified it and made it so much more.

Jewell's Picks & Pics: His & Hers

First, a pick for the guys (though perfectly good for monster-love-girls, such as myself): Dangercrafts, patterns to knite your own excessively cute little monster pals. I must admit, as one who demands instant gratification, I wish these were just stuffed animals for sale. But if you do knit, this pattern would pay off big time as a way to whip out the ultimate baby gifts when Christmases, birthdays, and baby showers roll around. Also makes a perfect gift for the design-lover in your life.

Now, for the ladies: Plum Daisy. Yes, I am personally a rag-a-muffin (see bottom photos) and I would certainly benefit from some of these fine do-decorations. I think I will get some. So, consider this my "before" picture. Hopefully in my "after" picture, I'll look as neat and trim as the little girls modeling these adorable headbands (and not like the street urchin I am currently resemble). To be continued...

A Alicia Accessories

I know, half my posts are from Etsy. Maybe that is what my blog is becoming: an Etsy promo site! Well, it is the breeding ground for fresh talent and that is what I am most interested in.

A Alicia Accessories makes fashion and decorative accessories out of felt in wonderful color combinations. Just think of how fun you could dress up your business suit or Sunday dress with one of these little jobbies. Lovely and playful, but not overbearing.

Eliza + Axel

Another handmade highlight. I am sure these aren't the most practical thing to wear every day. But they're not the most unpractical, either. Eliza + Axel has a slogen of "transforming the common t-shirt." I think they have successfully done just that! I love these, and I love the concept of looking fabulous when what you are wearing is "just a t-shirt."

Harold & Jane Vintage Handmade Jewelry

This is one of my favorite Etsy jewelry stores: Harold & Jane. Can you tell I love round beads and chunky gold chains? I honestly want to buy something. (Hint husband Travis: Mother's Day gift...)

Mother's Day Ideas from Martha Stewart

It's hard to believe that these are all things you actually make yourself. Just imagine how surprised and excited your mom would be if you sent her a little cast of her granddaughter's hand, or a charm bracelet with pictures of all her grandchildren? These amazing ideas and more at Martha Stewart's website in the Mother's Day idea gallery here.

Jewell's Picks & PIcs: Steiff Elephants

Yesterday I had the fabulous experience of going to Magic Mouse Toys in downtown Seattle. Mommy went there when she was little, and now it is my turn to go nuts over the fancy stuffed animals. I immediately fell in love with the Steiff toys. I wanted the red elephant, but a little out of my price range. So instead, I have searched Steiff elephants online for you to enjoy. These are my favorites.
