Jewell's Picks & Pics: Very Kiki

Is someone you know going to have a baby? Are you? Do you already have a baby? Will you ever have a baby or ever attend a baby shower again? Then you need to go to Very Kiki's shop on Etsy and buy something. You won't find a cuter, more affordable, unique gift. Giving someone one or two of these cute onesies will stir up a lot more excitement than a Babies'R'Us gift card.

Bibliodyssey: Quill and Flourish

I saw these yesterday and felt like I struck a gold mine. This is the Duke of Pfalz-Neuburg's Master Scribe Book from the 1600s, with writing in Latin, Spanish, French, Dutch and Italian accompanied by figurative calligraphy. I always make sure not to miss a post on Bibliodyssey. They post fantastic images from very old books and manuscripts. It's like a really fun history lesson. You can peruse their archives or just go to their flickr page. This set can be viewed here.

Jewell's Picks & Pics: Penguin & Fish

Last weekend I went to the Woodland Park Zoo, and got to see lots of animals. Up close. This Lion was rubbing against the glass and growling. It was kind of scarry. But this morning I saw featured on Etsy's home page a very cool shop of handmade animal toys: Penguin & Fish. This lion doesn't look very scarry! They also sell embroidery patterns of adorable animals. Cute stuff.

New Art from Jennifer Davis

I love the artwork of Jennifer Davis. Today I got a her email announcing her latest paintings. She happens to be showing some new pieces at the Halogen Gallery in Seattle from April 10 to May 1, 2009, and at First Amendment Arts in Minneapolis (reception April 25th).

The artist's website is here and you can see the latest at her blog here.

Fashionable Forms

I absolutely love wearing workout attire. I'm sure most of us shy away from anything that is trendy, and yes, athletic wear is trendy (how many Lululemon jogging suits have you seen strolling through the mall?). But so are blue jeans.

Athletica has some of the cutest stuff I've seen. Lots of cool patterns. Enough to inspire. You can see a bit of kindred influence in my wedding invitations. I just thought I'd show the comparison to prove you can find inspiration anywhere, whatever your creative outlet.

In One Piece

I'm a big advocate for the one-piece (or the two-piece the looks like one). They are harder to find amidst a sea of bikinis. Here's some stylish numbers I've rounded up. Time to suit up!
