boy toys

Alright, I just did a post for Land of Nod, but I've got to share the adorable additions to their Bla Bla line. These are relatively pricey compared to your average stuffed animal, but they are so worth it. They are completely fair trade, handmade, and amazing quality. Here's some that would be perfect in a boy's room. I have a doll for each of my girls, and despite the taunts that your kids won't care a lick about "designer" toys, my girls LOVE theirs. Jewell sleeps with hers (we named Lollie) every night.

.. nod chairs ..

These chairs are just in and don't they just make you WANT them? Land of Nod has some new cutie cushy chairs with matching "Noddomans," and they're all 15% off until this Monday.
Note: inspired by the recent request of my mom-of-twin-boys friend, I am going to do an all-boys week of posts starting Monday! Let's see what I can find....(I don't have any boys myself).

YUDU

Yudus are ON SALE at Joann's fabrics right now for only $99. So I finally bought one. Woohoo! For those of you who don't know, this is a personal screen printing machine made by Provo Craft (Yay for my home town). They retail for up to $299, and it's hard to find them for less than $200. So this is a fantastic deal. Basically, the machine is an all-in-one screen printer that takes care of everything you need to silkscreen your own t-shirts, pillows, table cloths, posters, cards...you name it. It's not perfect and there are a lot of tutorials online about how to make it work well. But for $99 to get started, not a huge setback. I'll be keeping you updated on the projects I (eventually) churn out on this thing.

(( West Elm ))

Eeep! These little owl measuring bowls from West Elm are too perfect. (And potentially useful). The white ones look so Jonathan Adler. I want! And this wood grain tea towel. Free shipping on both of these items, too.

* Liberty of London *

Did you know you can actually buy Liberty of London fabric? For some reason I didn't. It's pricey, but at least it's on sale right now at Fabric.com. Or you can get it from the Liberty of London site. And, though unfortunately completely sold out, there is a Hello Kitty line! Ah!!!

< Aunt Bucky >

One of my all-time favorite Etsy shops has been Aunt Bucky. I've never purchased anything from it, but I really want one of these little dresses. And they're on sale for a mere $60 reduced from $100. Pretty unbeatable cuteness.

< Lucky Elephant >

I love this print from Oopsy Daisy.

* Hsinping Pan *

I know I've seen her art around, but I really discovered Hsinping Pan's art when I saw this adorable Boy & Elephant art on the cover of Babybug magazine (below, image from Magic Murals where you can buy it as decal or wallpaper). Art available on her Etsy shop. Alphabet is also a wall decal, available at Polkadot Peacock.

( goodbye summer )

Well, we're moving into autumn (yay!) and it may be the middle of winter when I finally release my "Suns" series. My ballerinas are finally done (although color variations are coming), and next on the horizon is my "owls" series (stay tuned...and don't worry, there's always room for more owls in the market). But I thought I'd throw out this preview of what I've been toying with for the first in my series of large mid-century-modern-style suns. I really want to have them printed on canvas. Big. But that will get committing cost-wise. Any comments? And, I'd really love to hear comments on what subject matters ya'll are interested in (is there a void in the market)? Forgive me for being so candid in my marketing research.

<<<< Missoni for Target >>>>

I spied the Missoni for Target ads in the last Vogue (the collection is coming September 13 until October 22). So I searched online to see if I could get some more images of what was coming and I was thrilled to find the official lookbook on Fashionista. These pieces won't last long! I am ready to zip in tomorrow morning and get my faves

- the prudent homemaker -

I am loving this site, The Prudent Homemaker, put on by an LDS (that's short for Latter-day Saint or Mormon, for those of you who are saying, Huh?) woman who, at one point in her married life, had very little money to go on. She learned how to make gourmet and tasty meals on a budget and was eventually inspired to make this site. It has great recipes (with great photos) and lots of useful info on gardening, stocking your pantry, and cooking. You can even visit recipes based on the season. Go check it out!

< Resort 2012 >

So much cute stuff! I just went to Vogue.com to review the collections. I spent yesterday evening watching The September Issue (off of Netflix instant streaming). So I was craving a bit of high fashion. Sigh. Oh yes, and to all of you who are annoyed with me for posting about sites to get referral credits, don't worry: I won't do it again. I do recommend them, however, because I've gotten some pretty sweet stuff. But I don't want to seem like I'm taking advantage of ya'll.
